Subject: Church clock back in action

Landkey residents, especially those who live on the western side of the village, may have noticed that the church clock has recently begun chiming again.

A lightning strike on the church in January 2015 caused damage to the clock and this has taken quite a while to repair fully. The clock was brought back into service a year or so after being damaged but then suffered further (minor) damage when repairs to its cement surround were being carried out.

A clock specialist was brought in recently and has managed to restart the mechanism and we hope that the clock will continue to run as smoothly as it did before it being struck.

From Charles Waldron on 14th April 2019:

Subject: Easter services - all welcome

All are especially welcome to join us as at St Paul's Church as we celebrate Easter this week. We will be holding a Reflections of the Cross service on Good Friday, 19th April between 2pm and 3pm.

Our Easter Sunday service will follow on Sunday and we expect this to be a joyful occasion as we rejoice in the knowledge of the risen Lord.

There will also be services in other churches in our Mission Community:

  • On Maundy Thursday, 18th April, a service will be held at 7pm at St Michael, East Buckland.
  • On Good Friday at 7:30am, there will be a procession carrying a cross to the top of Hooda Hill, Swimbridge.
  • At 6:30pm on Good Friday at St James' Church, Swimbridge a service of readings and prayers will take place.

From Charles Waldron on 7th March 2019:
